We're helping people build real capacity for real life

TEFI advances trauma-informed research and tools that support executive functioning, regulation, and daily life across health, care, and community systems.

Research with integrity

TEFI is a nonprofit research institute focused on trauma, executive functioning, and daily capacity. We study how stress, health, and lived environments shape real-world functioning, and we build tools and systems that help people and providers navigate life with more clarity and support.

What we're building right now

Our first initiative is FunctionalMe, a capacity-tracking app designed to help adults better understand their executive functioning in daily life. At the same time, it allows us to begin building ethical, consent-based datasets that will inform future research, tools, and systems-level work.

FunctionalMe is currently in early testing, and it will grow alongside TEFI’s research program.

Meet the team

TEFI is led by a small founding board with experience across research, finance, and technology. Together, we’re building the infrastructure for long-term, ethical work at the intersection of trauma, executive functioning, and public health.
